As I reflect on where we are in our 2026-2027 school year journey, I feel the stress that you are likely also feeling.  Hopefully, you are settling into a routine, and you are feeling confident about your progress. But likely, you also have a few students that you take home with you in your mind and in your heart to pray over. Know we are praying over these precious learners too. Never forget that God sees them and cares for them even more than we do. So, please take every opportunity to lift these children up to their Maker. We are made for this. Let's make this October an October of intercession for our learners to the One who set the stars in place and calls them each by name. He cares deeply for each one of your learners, and He cares for you, too. Sweet September. I do so enjoy fall. I know that fall technically doesn't arrive until near the end of the month, but let's be real, if you don't pick up a bag or two of your favorite fall coffee or treats now, you probably will miss out on them when fall does finally arrive. I learned that lesson the hard way. I hope your school year has begun well. I hope your learners are acing the routines and you are excelling on showing patience and persistence. As we get into the academics, let's not forget to pause and enjoy the changing seasons around us. You're never too old to crunch through the leaves, stop to admire the bird migrations, or sip on your favorite hot beverage. There is JOY where you are, take a moment to savor it. We're praying for your patience, persistence, and pauses and appreciate your similar prayers for us. Thank you for ALL you do! As usual, people were moved by His teaching. Unusually, a demon-possessed man screeched at Him, imploring Jesus to leave them alone, asking if He came to destroy them, and identifying Him as the Holy One sent by God. Jesus rebuked the demon, commanding it to be silent and leave the man. Stunned by what they witnessed, the crowd murmured about what it meant that Jesus had the authority to tell demons to leave and they obeyed. Rumors of Jesus spread like wildfire. 2. For us, August means a return to the school schedule. Early mornings, busy days, and nights spent processing the day's happenings. Caring for littles takes a lot of energy and an emotional toll. We get it! Our goal is to help you find JOY in your daily routine. During this time, He ate nothing. So, being very hungry and weak, Satan tempted Jesus with food (turn this stone to bread), power (jump from this high place and demand the angels to come down and rescue you), and with authority (worship me and I'll give you all the kingdoms of the world). To each temptation, Jesus refused by quoting scripture. Having no more tricks up His sleeve, Satan left until he could devise another strategy. 2. Summary Joseph's genealogy is traced all the way back to God. Joseph was of the tribe of Judah, from David's line through Nathan.  2. N/W/L Statements I NOTICED that:  Luke traces Jesus' lineage through Joseph, His adopted father, all the way back to God. (*This shows us that earthly lineage doesn't matter. Divine lineage does, and we're all from the same tree.)  Jesus' genealogy follows His baptism in the book of Luke. (*Perhaps also to prioritize His descendancy from God, or divinity, versus Joseph, or humanity.) As He prayed, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove, and God proclaimed Jesus' identity as His Son with whom He is well-pleased. 2. N/W/L Statements I NOTICED that: Jesus was praying when the Holy Spirit descended.  Jesus' baptism was ordinary: it did not require special equipment, a specific location, or an elite crowd. He was baptized in the same manner as everyone else. I WONDER: If Jesus praying after baptism is unique to Luke, or if it is mentioned in other gospels too.  If baptism was about repentance, was it common to pray afterward?  What was said in the prayer?
