Happy Tag-You're-It-Day, Leaders! For forever that's what I will now call touch tag.  My niece, years ago mind you, used to run around asking everyone if they would play "Tag-You're-It" with her.  And, yes, it all came out as one word.  It was the cutest thing ever and my new name for touch tag.  Confession - I didn't play today.  Did you? Apple Betty I promised I would share with you the recipe for Apple Betty if it was good.  Well, it was.  I actually have two kind of particular eaters in my household, even when it comes to dessert, and they both liked it.  So, I'll share.  And I won't be mean.  I won't lure you to the end and then give you the recipe.  I'll give it to you right now.  It's not even my recipe.  It is Barbara Milam's and it can be found at allrecipes.com. The first step in Barbara's recipe was to slice the apples.  I did.  It took four of them.  However many cups a recipe calls for in apples, that's

Columbus Day

Fellow Leaders, Columbus Day is a week away!    I will delve into that topic in detail a little further on, but first, I want to go over your weekend with you. Apple Betty Day I have my October Idea for Everyday Calendar  posted and I am trying to be better about celebrating each day along with you.   I figured, I ought to follow my own advice, right?    So, on Sunday I printed out a recipe for Apple Betty.   Which I plan on making tonight.   I promise to share the recipe if it turns out well.   If you don’t see the recipe…well… you’re welcome for that too.   Mad Hatter Day Yesterday was Mad Hatter Day.   I don’t actually own Alice in Wonderlan d , so I searched all the streaming applications available (to me) and found Through the Looking Glass on Amazon Prime.   It stars Kate Beckinsale and successfully transported me into the Alice’s fantasy land that I was looking for.   No, it didn’t have the Mad Hatter, but it still contained enough imagination to spark

"I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is." Imagine these words being spoken to you.  They're ugly, hurtful words.  If I heard these words spoken about me, I'd likely shut down immediately and walk away.  Then, I'd play them over and over in my head as I toss and turn in bed that night.  How about you?  What would your response be? Now, what if I told you those words were spoken by someone who knew you well - like a brother, a sister, a best friend, a spouse.  Picture someone close to you.  Someone who knows you well.  Imagine this person is in the room with you.  Now hear their voice as they tell you: "I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is." How do you feel now?  If it was someone close to me,  I would react differently.  My emotions would likely turn to anger this time and I would probably retaliate with a hurtful comment.  Or some bitter exclamation to show how hurt I am and possibly try to hurt them in

Weather Activities

Greetings Leaders, The weather where we live today is undeniably fall weather.   Sweater weather.   Curl up with a blanket and a steaming cup of coffee weather.   And I love it!   The slight drizzle, the chilly air, and the need for warmer attire all provide a sense of comfort for me.   And, as we were walking our nephew to school this morning, we noticed new weather-related accessories making an appearance.   That’s right, the ever so handy and sometimes necessary umbrella.      What a perfect time to learn about dressing for the weather with your littles.   And,  g uess what?   We just happen to have you covered.   Hehe. Like an umbrella, get it?   Coughs, anyway.   Within our The Big Five Wolfe Pack for PreK to 1 st  Grade is a weather center, and we decided today was the perfect day to pull it out, slightly modify it, and feature it as our daily special.   The center features seasonal backdrops with typical weather patterns as well as weather rel

Greetings Leaders, How is National Love People Day treating you?  I must admit, it is not always easy to show people love, and typically the hardest ones to show love are the ones who need it most.  So, kudos to you for going the extra mile and taking the effort to show someone you care.  Currently, when I'm angry at someone, or it's really hard for me to show love, I visualize peering into their eyes and seeing God.  He's always there, if you look hard enough, and if you remember to look.  That's the hard part for me, anyway. Here, at Wolfe Stew, we try to show our love for people by offering educational resources to make your life a little easier and maybe even more enjoyable.  We'd love to serve you better by making you Made-to-Order Quizine .  Head on over to that tab, and place your order.  Just shoot us an email detailing which kind of plates you wish we'd offer.  Think of topics, structures, purpose, etc.  We are working on an order form, so keep

Welcome Leaders, Today is National Brave Day!   Did you and your learners do something brave today?   Did you talk about people who exhibit bravery?   What it means to be brave?   We hope you did.   We hope you took the plunge and free fell right off that scary diving board – hypothetically speaking of course.   Or, maybe literally. If you did not get a chance to be brave today, maybe tomorrow is your day.   It’s National Good Neighbor Day.   In the current digital era, we typically do not connect with our neighbors as previous generations did.   Maybe tomorrow you will be inspired to change that in your neighborhood.   Ride the waves of bravery from today and invite your neighbor over to dinner.   Say, “Hello,” when you see them outside.   Or even pick a piece of trash up out of their lawn.   Whatever it is that inspires you, maybe still requires a little bit of bravery, and honors the intent of National Good Neighbor Day. To honor the intent of toda

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day Leaders! Did you and your littles participate in apple-themed activities today?  Did you tell the story of Johnny Appleseed?  Maybe you and yours crafted a modern day tall tale to solve a problem in today's world.  Whatever you did, we'd love to hear about your adventures! Tomorrow is National Brave Day.  Consider using it as an opportunity to talk about bravery.  Throw down a bravery challenge.  Give mini-bios on people you consider brave.  Make brave collages.  Share with your littles times when bravery is hard for you, why you know you must act despite your fear, and what you do to overcome it. Take chances, make mistakes.  That's how you grow.  Pain nourishes your courage.  You have to fail in order to practice being brave. - Mary Tyler Moore  Today's featured item is the Universal Vocabulary Pack.  Once side dishes in the  Meet Silas Wolfe Pack  and Bot Bedlam Wolfe Pack , these activities now star as the main course.  The cour
